Curated Spaces

The Curated Spaces Project offers inspirational artwork to support community organizations whose mission it is to heal, educate or rehabilitate.

What exactly are we doing?

We’re lending hundreds of professional works of art to organizations who would like to convert their hallways, waiting rooms or dining facilities into inspirational spaces. After placing the artwork, Foundation For The Arts can help organize gallery openings or art classes to further inspire and encourage audiences to enjoy the beauty of their new environment.

In some cases, we’re asking local artists to create pieces for a particular space in a facility. Donors have the option of sponsoring a single piece of art or an entire collection at a facility of their choosing. We would love to connect members of the community to the important missions of these organizations.

Our ultimate hope is that the art from our collection will provide a source of joy and encouragement every time they are seen by the organization's residents, guests and staff.

Why is it so important?

The Curated Spaces Project was created to bring the uplifting power of the arts to people into settings that promote emotional healing, physical healing or academic growth. Oftentimes, places that are meant to bring healing, hope and inspiration have a sterile and cold interior. It’s a common occurrence for organizations to raise funding to construct a building and then run out of resources before they can make their space feel like home. We want to help these spaces say, “You’re being cared for with intentionality, every detail has been thought of and this is a place of healing.”

We’re all about using the arts for greater purposes than simply decoration and we believe that simple changes to people’s surroundings will assist in helping them endure, grow, get through sickness and heal.

We are loaning hundreds of original paintings and fine art prints from these four artists:

Santa Barbara Rescue Mission

We are excited to announce that the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission is the first recipient of a Curated Space!

Santa Barbara Rescue Mission is a Santa Barbara organization bringing physical, emotional, educational and spiritual resources to all who struggle with homelessness and addiction. We have the privilege of placing 18 beautiful fine art prints by Robert Lyn Nelson into their men’s sober living dining common.
