Jesus “Chucho” Reyes

Jesus “Chucho” Reyes was born in 1882 in Guadalajara, Mexico and died in Mexico City in 1977. His unique style helped form the “Mexican Modernism Movement” and made him known as one of the most original artistic personalities of Mexican art in the twentieth century.  Chucho began his painting career with humble materials of tissue paper, cardboard and tempera paints. The major themes, colors and imagery of his work are based on traditional Mexican celebrations, still lifes and narratives of mythical or real life creatures. He also depicts various human figures ranging from religious figures to marginalized people.

Our collection contains hundreds of original paintings. Pricing of Chucho’s original works range from $5,000-$40,000.
